The first rays of dawn bathed the magnificent palace of Suryagarh in golden light. The kingdom was prosperous, its people content, yet an emptiness lingered within the royal walls.
In the palace gardens, King Vikramaditya sat silently, his one-year-old son, Prince Veerendra, asleep in his arms. His gaze rested on the blooming flowers, but his mind wandered to the woman who was no longer there.
Meera.
His queen.
His first love.
His everything.
The soft sound of footsteps broke his thoughts.
"Vikram..."
He looked up to find the Rajmata standing before him. Though age had touched her hair, her eyes still held the authority of the Queen Mother of Suryagarh.
"You know why I have come."
Vikramaditya sighed. "If it is about another marriage, then my answer remains the same."
The Rajmata walked closer and gently caressed little Veerendra's head.
"This kingdom needs a Maharani. Your son needs a mother."
"He has me."
"A father can never replace a mother's love."
Silence stretched between them.
Finally, Vikramaditya spoke, his voice heavy with grief.
"I gave my heart to Meera. It was buried with her. Do not ask me to betray her memory."
The Rajmata's eyes softened.
"No one is asking you to forget Meera. She will always remain the queen who gave Suryagarh its heir. But you are not only a grieving husband, Vikram. You are a king."
He closed his eyes.
"I cannot love anyone else."
"I am not asking you to."
She paused before adding gently,
"But the throne cannot remain without a queen forever."
Without another word, Vikramaditya stood up, carrying Veerendra in his arms, and walked away.
The Rajmata watched him leave with a silent prayer.
"May destiny succeed where I have failed."
Far away, in the proud kingdom of Vijaygarh, another battle was unfolding—not on a battlefield, but within the walls of the royal palace.
Princess Tarini stood in the court, her chin held high despite the storm raging inside her.
Her father, King Rudradev, looked at her sternly.
"The alliance has been decided."
"I refuse."
"You do not have that choice."
Tarini's eyes flashed with anger.
"The man you have chosen is old enough to be my father."
"He is a powerful king."
"He is forty-nine!"
Her father's expression remained unmoved.
"A princess does not marry for love. She marries for her kingdom."
Tarini clenched her fists.
"I would rather remain unmarried than become a political bargain."
The king's voice thundered through the hall.
"You will marry him. The preparations begin today."
Tarini looked around the court. Ministers lowered their eyes. No one dared to speak for her.
Without another word, she turned and walked out, refusing to let anyone see the tears threatening to fall.
As she reached the palace balcony, she looked toward the endless horizon.
"I don't know what fate has written for me..."
"...but I will never surrender without a fight."
Far away, destiny had already begun weaving the threads of two broken lives—one bound by grief, the other by sacrifice.
Neither Vikramaditya nor Tarini knew that their paths were about to cross, changing not only their own destinies, but the future of two kingdoms forever.
